1. Who runs this site
This site is operated by Sal Mazzarelli, a sole-proprietor HR and business advisory practice based in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada. If you have a question about this policy or your data, email salmazzarelli@gmail.com.
2. What I collect
I collect only what's needed to respond to you and run the site.
Information you give me directly
- Intake form submissions — your name, role, email, phone (if you share it), LinkedIn (if you share it), company name, industry, team size, revenue range (optional), and the answers you provide about your HR situation and what you're hoping to solve.
- Newsletter signups — your email address and, optionally, your company name.
- Direct emails — anything you choose to send me by email or attach to a message.
Information collected automatically
- Basic site analytics — pages visited, country, device type, referring source. This is aggregate data, not tied to individual identities, used to understand which content is useful.
- Form-processor records — when you submit a form, my form host (Netlify) records the submission and timestamp so I can respond.
3. How I use what I collect
- To reply to your inquiry and prepare for a possible engagement.
- To send you the newsletter only if you signed up for it. You can unsubscribe at the bottom of any email.
- To understand which pages and resources are useful so I can improve the site.
I do not sell, rent, or trade your information. I do not use it to build advertising profiles. I do not share it with third parties for their marketing.
4. Service providers I use
Some routine services help me run the site. They process information on my behalf under their own privacy terms:
- Netlify — site hosting and form submission storage.
- Beehiiv — newsletter delivery (only the email and company name you provide on signup).
- Calendly — appointment scheduling, when you choose to book a call.
- Google Workspace — email I send and receive from you.
I review these providers periodically and pick ones with credible privacy practices.
5. How long I keep it
- Newsletter subscribers — for as long as you remain subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time, and your record is removed.
- Intake submissions — for the duration of any resulting engagement, plus up to 2 years thereafter for professional records and tax purposes. If we never engage, I delete the record within 12 months.
- Email correspondence — retained according to standard business records practice (typically 7 years for tax/accounting matters).
You can ask me to delete your information sooner — see the next section.
6. Your rights
If you live in Canada, the EU/UK, California, or many other places, applicable privacy laws give you rights over your personal information. I respect all of them, regardless of where you live:
- Access — ask what I have on you.
- Correction — ask me to fix anything inaccurate.
- Deletion — ask me to remove your information.
- Portability — ask for an export of what I have.
- Withdrawal of consent — unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, or ask me to stop processing your information.
To exercise any of these, email salmazzarelli@gmail.com. I'll respond within 30 days.
7. Cookies
This site uses minimal cookies: only those required by my hosting provider (Netlify) for basic site function. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If I add analytics in the future that uses cookies, I will update this policy and add a notice.
8. Security
I use reputable, mainstream service providers (Netlify, Google, Beehiiv, Calendly) that maintain industry-standard security. I keep client information confidential and only share it on a need-to-know basis (for example, with a subcontractor working on the same engagement, under confidentiality). No system is perfectly secure, but I treat your information with the same discretion I'd want for my own.
9. Children
This site is not directed at children under 16. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
10. Changes to this policy
If I change this policy materially, I will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, send a notice through the newsletter. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
