Terms of Use

The ground rules for using this website. Short, plain-English, and standard for a one-person professional services practice.

1. Who you're dealing with

This website is operated by Sal Mazzarelli, a sole-proprietor HR and business advisory practice based in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada ("I," "me," "my"). By using this site, you agree to these terms.

2. What this site is — and isn't

This site is for general information about my consulting services, plus articles and downloadable resources I publish to be useful.

It is not legal, HR, employment-law, financial, or tax advice. Articles, playbooks, templates, and other resources on this site reflect my professional experience but are educational, not a substitute for advice tailored to your specific situation. Don't rely on them for high-stakes decisions without qualified counsel.

Reading the site, downloading a resource, subscribing to the newsletter, or filling out the intake form does not create a consulting, advisory, or other professional relationship between us. A working relationship begins only when both of us sign a written engagement letter or services agreement.

3. Your use of the site

You may browse the site, share links to it, and quote short passages with attribution. You may not:

  • Reproduce, republish, or redistribute the content in bulk without my written permission.
  • Remove copyright notices or other attribution.
  • Use the site or its content in any way that's unlawful, defamatory, or that infringes someone else's rights.
  • Attempt to interfere with the site's normal operation (scraping at scale, automated attacks, etc.).

4. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise noted, the text, design, graphics, photos, downloadable resources, and overall structure of this site are my original work and are protected by Canadian and international copyright. Third-party logos (e.g., past employers) are shown for descriptive purposes only and remain the property of their respective owners.

Downloadable resources are provided for your personal or internal business use. You may not resell, repackage, or distribute them as your own work.

5. Third-party links and tools

The site links to external resources (LinkedIn, Calendly, articles, etc.) and uses third-party services (Netlify, Beehiiv, Google, Calendly). I do not control those sites or services and am not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, or privacy practices. Use them at your own discretion.

6. No warranties

I do my best to keep this site accurate, current, and available. But the site and everything on it is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. That means I do not warrant the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any content is comprehensive, accurate, or fit for any particular purpose.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site or any content downloaded from it, even if I have been advised of the possibility of such damages. My total liability for any direct claim related to your use of the site will not exceed CAD $100.

This section does not limit liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer-protection law.

8. Privacy

How I handle personal information you provide is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario for any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the site, except where a mandatory consumer-protection statute provides otherwise.

10. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always posted here with a "Last updated" date. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.
